Frequently Asked Questions about the 2023 Camp Season

Every year Meriden Community Camp provides quality programming and childcare in our community. This year's camp season will include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities, as well as good old-fashioned camp fun.

DATES AND TIMES:

The 2023 Camp season will run for seven weeks (June 26-August 11). Campers may register for all seven weeks or any number of individual weekly sessions. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate campers for partial weeks. Please note that the week of July 3-7 will be a three-day camp week (July 5-7). On July 3, daycare will be offered at a reduced fee and on July 4 the camp will be closed due to the holiday.

Session 1 (June 26-June 30) ***Registration closed.
Session 2 (July 5-July 7) ***17 spots open.
- *The week of 7/5 is a three day week. Monday July 3, childcare is available, but there will not be camp activities. All rates below are prorated accordingly.
Session 3 (July 10-July 14) ***Registration closed.
Session 4 (July 17-July 21) ***Registration closed.
Session 5 (July 24-July 28) ***Registration closed.
Session 6 (July 31-August 4) ***Registration closed.
Session 7 (August 7-August 11) ***Registration closed.
Daycare offered on July 3; There will be no camp on July 4th.

We welcome campers who will be entering 1st grade through 7th grade in the fall of 2023.

This year we welcome back our littlest campers ages 3-5 years old or rising Kindergartners. Campers must be potty-trained before the start of camp.

Camp hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day. We are offering an optional early start at 7 a.m. for families who would like to drop off their camper(s) before 8 a.m. We also offer extended afternoon hours until 5 p.m. If this is of interest to you, please let us know as soon as possible.

ADDITIONAL COVID SAFETY:

It is expected that parents will be monitoring their campers for symptoms of COVID. Although community transmission of COVID has lessened considerably, it is still a reality. If your camper is showing any signs of COVID symptoms we kindly request that you keep him/her/them at home and take a COVID test. Children can return to camp after 5 days and should wear a mask for an additional 5 days.

Children and staff will be expected to follow the current policies of the camp regarding COVID-19. These policies reflect the policies created by Plainfield School District but are subject to change to reflect the current environment we may be in during the summer.

Parents must have alternate plans if their camper(s) needs to be picked up on short notice. If their camper is showing COVID-19 symptoms, they are expected to pick up their child within 45 minutes if called.

As it has been for the past 3 years, these protocols could change quickly based on federal, state or local orders, increases in COVID-19 cases, staffing or supply issues. Families and staff should be prepared with backup plans in case MCC needs to suspend the season either for a shorter or longer period of time.

COSTS:

$250/Week – Regular Full-Day
+$75/Week – Extended Day AM (drop off as early as 7:00 a.m.)
+$75/Week – Extended Day PM (pick up by 5:00 p.m.)
+$125/Week – Extended Day AM & PM
$50 non-refundable registration fee (will be incorporated into final cost of camp)
$5 change fee/per week/per child (Changes will be considered based on availability. Camp sessions fill up quickly, please try to provide as much notice as possible so that we may try to accommodate your request.)

Paying for Camp:

We are excited to offer a payment plan this year to help our families better manage the cost of camp over a longer time. If you are interested in a payment plan, please contact Camp Director Rosa Sousa at camp@meridenucc.org.

If camp costs are challenging for your family at this time, please inquire about our scholarship program. Thanks to the many generous donors in our community, we are able to offer limited financial help.
